Accessibility Statement

The MISC Team at Queen Margaret’s University’s Institute for Global Health and Development is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to miscintegration.org.

It is important to us that this site is accessible to those with varying requirements in order for our research to be disseminated as widely as possible. This means that, on our site, you should be able to:

  • Experience no usage time limit.

  • Navigate the website using only a keyboard.

  • Navigate the website using a screen reader.

  • Zoom in without text leaving the page horizontally.

  • Use ‘skip to content’.

Additionally, more information on adapting sites to meet your accessibility requirements is available here (abilitynet.org.uk).

Compliance Status

(b) This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible Content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

  • Not all non-text content has text alternatives. However, we do not believe that any non-text content is crucial to the understanding of our work.

  • There are links to externally hosted video and audio content on the site, these may not have transcriptions or captions.

  • While all content is available at 200% zoom, the formatting may make navigating the text more difficult. On some pages, the text may not reflow to a single column at 400% zoom.

  • Our PDFs are not compatible with screen readers. We have provided plain text PDFs in each instance for this reason.

  • There are images of text on the Events page.

  • In certain areas, such as the landing page, low/varying contrast may make the understanding of text difficult.

  • On the Mapping Tool page, iFrame content blocks may not fit on the screen without scrolling when the page is magnified. There may also be some issues using only the keyboard to navigate these iFrames. These iFrames are actually working links to another website embedded into this one and thus our accessibility statement cannot cover their function.

We are not claiming that any content would be a disproportionate burden to fix. Below, we outline what we are doing to fix these issues.

What We’re Doing to Improve Accessibility

We strive to make our website as accessible as possible. We are working on the outlined issues that hold us back from meeting full WCAG 2.1 compliance. We hope to have these resolved by December 2022.
